One vet. One rookie. One runs like a deer. The other runs like a deer posing for the camera. One leads the B.C. Football Conference in receiving yards. Or maybe the other does, depending on who you talk to. Either way, Sun receivers Scott Salling and Nate Coehoorn have put their mark on the early goings of the BCFC season. "Scott just likes to look pretty when he runs his routes," said Okanagan quarterback Billy McConkey with a laugh. "Nate's more of a go-getter . . . he just goes and gets the ball."Salling good-naturely took exception to the GQ reputation he'd been labeled with by his teammate. "That's a lie," he said, laughing. "That's obviously Mr. McConkey. That's not true. It's a complete myth — a total fabrication."And, if you ask anyone on the team, there's another area where reality bends: the BCFC stats. According to the official league numbers, Coehoorn tops the BCFC with six catches for 178 yards and three touchdowns. Salling is in fourth place with four receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown. But the statskeepers in Victoria screwed up, say the Sun, crediting a 40-yard touchdown to Coehoorn instead of Salling. The reversal would make Salling the No. 1-ranked receiver instead."It's the best receiving corps we've had in my four years here," said McConkey. "They're fast and have hands. It's a quarterback's dream, pretty much — guys who can catch the ball and are reliable."The five-foot-11, 179-pound Salling is in his second season with the Sun after holding down the mantle as the go-to guy with the now-folded Tri-City Bulldogs. Coehoorn, 6-2 and 194 pounds, is technically a rookie, though he played two years with the Calgary Colts, being named to the Prairie Football Conference's all-rookie team in 2004.After going 0-8 in two seasons with the Colts, Coehoorn started for the Sun in their season-opener against the Vancouver Trojans."I was nervous starting the game, but once it started rolling, once you get into it, it felt really good," said the Medicine Hat native, who fumbled his first touch of the ball, but recovered to post 64 receiving yards and a touchdown. "It was the first (junior) game I've ever won."The Sun weren't surprised that Coehoorn is among the league leaders early on this season. He moved to Kelowna in the off-season and worked out on a weekly basis with the team."Nate is a big, physical dude," said receivers coach Tony Lindsay. "He's probably one of the most physically gifted guys we have, and have had in the last couple years."I'm not surprised he's the leading scorer. We knew he had a pretty good pedigree when he came here."Salling is another. And both he and Coehoorn are planning on using their time with the Sun as a springboard to the university ranks."I just want to go out on a good note, and hit the university scene in a nice stride," said Salling, who is eyeing a move to UBC once his final year of eligibility is used up."I just want to win. Bottom line. We just want to get to that championship game . . . and if we had it at the Apple Bowl here, that'd be great."FIELD GOALS: The Sun (2-0) have the weekend off, but are in action again on Aug. 19 when they visit the Abbotsford Air Force. . . . The Okanagan offence is once again pacing the league, averaging 455 yards per game and 40 points scored.

WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN: Superman should not have been about a love story. I think they should have either began from the start (when he arrives from Krypton) or his fight with Doomsday. How sick would this movie be if the first part was his fight with Doomsday and his eventual death. Think of the shot of Lois holding a beaten superman infront of the Daily Planet & seeing him (Clark Kent her husband) die in her arms [picture above right]. Followed with the sequel that could show his rebirth. They could have every 'new' superman in it: The 'Man of Steel,' 'Superboy,' 'Cyborg Superman' & the 'Eradicator.' Now thats a sick movie. Any true superman fan must be 'Veed' about this movie. All we can hope if for a decent sequel.

WHAT IT WAS: How Terrible Was The "Return of Superman?" I walked into the theater yesterday overly excited. It was SUPERMAN. My fav. comin book hero. He was ranked #1 on the most influential people (real or fictional) list...Oprah was 2nd. Anyways, when i left, i left angered. IT WAS CRAP. It was a LOVE story. I dont want to see a love story. Moreover, Spacey was a terrible Lex Luthor. It wasnt his acting, but his look. If you read the comics, Luthor is huge. Hes bald, yes, but hes also muscular and give off a more masculine vibe. Perry White was marginal as was Jimmy. Lois was okay and thats about it. Clark Kent was played extremely well but he remained a descent "Superman." In the end the plot was whack. The love story was whack! & When in the comic books does Superman have a son with Lois b4 he gets married to her. THEY NEEDED TO FOLLOW THE COMIC BOOK MORE! Cant wait to see how terrible the sequel is.

WHAT IS GOING? This 'write-up' is not intended to be racist, however to inform you the reader of the problemns facing our world. Just today a 'Terrorist Plot' was foiled by the British police. Allegedly 'Pakistani Muslims' arranged a plot where they would bomb 10 planes while in the air by mixing different house hold liquids. 5-6 'alleged' terrorists would board a plane [headed to the USA from Britain] carrying one house hold liquid. When the liquids would be mixed together, they would form into an explosive. The explosions would occur simulatneously and 10 planes would explode killing both American, British, and other innocent people.

WHAT THE F**K IS THAT!

I do not understand that. Nor do i understand the plot that was foiled in Toronto where a Al Qaeda advocates were going to bomb Canada. Canada, what did 'we' do? We're a part of NATO. NATO is not the British Army nor is it the American Army. NATO are peace keepers who are obligated to not engage in war.
